Atlantic White Cedar is an evergreen tree of swamps, bogs, and along small creeks. Despite its common name, it is not a cedar but actually a member of the Cypress family. There is a population from Mississippi into the panhandle of Florida and a second separate population found from Maine south along the coast to the Carolinas. These two separate populations are treated as either different subspecies or as separate species by some botanists.
