If you have ever eaten gulf shrimp from Florida, you likely were eating a Pink Shrimp. These shrimp, along with a couple other species, are not only a major commercial fishery, but also an incredibly important part of the marine ecosystems around the state. Adult shrimp live offshore but like so many deep water species, they come into the shallow waters of the estuaries and grass flats to breed. The juvenile shrimp are important food sources for numerous species of fish and are also a popular bait for fisherman.
