A bizarre looking creature, the Sooty Sea Hare is found on grass flats across the western Atlantic. They can grow up to 8-10″ and while they look rather defenseless, they have a fascinating purple ink that when released blocks sensory receptors for spiny lobsters and other predators. It appears to fly through the water with two wing like structures, and it also has the ability to adhere to things with snail-like suction on its underside.
