Yaupon is a holly found in many different habitats throughout Northern Florida and across the southeast. It is an important fruit source for birds and other animals in winter and is especially popular with wintering flocks of American Robins. It grows best in well-drained sandy soils and is very widespread. Unlike many other hollies, it does not have sharp, prickly leaves.
