Boat-tailed Grackles are a common blackbird of the southeast and found primarily in wetlands though they have adapted well to thrive in urban environments. While they are found throughout all of Florida, in other states they are more closely associated with saltwater and salt marshes. The males are a beautiful iridescent black while the females have a grown head and breast and lack the iridescence.
