Known to many as a Mangrove Snapper, this common fish is officially called a Grey Snapper. Like so many species, the young fish are found on grass flats, among mangroves, and in other estuaries while the larger fish are found in deeper water, both nearshore and offshore. They feed mostly on crustaceans like shrimp and crabs but will also eat smaller fish. A common target for anglers, they are often caught near structures like wrecks, bridges, and docks.
