Red Buckeye is a large shrub or small tree of southern hardwood forests. They can grow up to 25 feet in height but are also found as shrubs. The red flowers emerge in early spring as the plant leafs out. The fruits contain chemicals that are poisonous to humans but don’t pose a large danger as they are hard to ingest.
